The "Nice Guy" Award
Despite being awkward in almost every other interview I've seen him in, Daniel-Day Lewis was a picture of graciousness, good humor and gentility (yippee alliteration!) when he accepted his award for Best Actor. He had the best acceptance speech of the night... do they hand out awards for that?
The "Oopsie-Daisy!" Award
Jennifer Lawrence falling on the steps up to accept her award for Best Actress. All in all, it was kind of funny, since she has talked about being clumsy in interviews.
Overall, no one cares because she's so gosh darn adorable!

(Props to Molly for the video.)
The "Ooh! Sparkly!" Award
I loved all the sequins and sparkles at the Oscars.
Kerry Washington's dress was a winner - I love how the beaded & sparkled top differs from the satin bottom.
(And she has a train! But thankfully not an obnoxiously long one.)

Nicole Kidman, Adele, and Kristin Chenoweth also had fun, glitzy dresses.
The Oscar stage was beautiful as well, with the lights!
The "We're Bringing It Back, Old School Style" Award
I laughed when the director for Brave came out wearing a kilt.
The woman who accepted the award with him was wearing a corseted dress and shawl as well.
I thought that was a fun, and well, brave fashion choice.
The "Just One Thing" Award
Zoe Saldana would get my "best dressed" award... if her dress didn't have that awful belt!
Seriously?!
The dress has beautiful lines and creates a striking silhouette, and she breaks it up with a belt?
No... just... no.
The "Two-fer" Award
I loved Octavia Spencer's dress last year, and I loved her dress this year.
Winner!
The "Luckyyyy!" Award
This year, the people who escorted the Oscar winners off-stage were college film-school students, winners of a contest set up by the Academy Awards and Samsung.
I thought that was a sweet thing to do, to honor the kids who are working hard right now, to eventually be where the Oscar winners are now, and also to honor some more "normal" individuals. The contest chose a diverse group of students, who shared the duties equally.
What a special opportunity for them!
Did you watch the Oscars?

I sort of watched the Oscars. We actually lost power and therefore the DVR did not have over an hour of the awards show. The worst part, it was pretty much all the singing.
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen the BACK of Kerry Washington's dress. Now I kinda love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd DDL's speech was undoubtedly the best of the night. He's the man. Though can you imagine being his wife? Until his speech I'd never thought about what it must be like to be married to a method actor.
{Thanks for the shout!}
They should totally have an award for the best acceptance speech. Double whammy of awards for someone.
