Don we now our gay apparel (2)

My second dress-up event was the Winter Formal.  Hosted by the swing dance community, but not specifically for swing dancers, it's an awesome event.  Everyone looks classy, but gets to dance to "Call Me Maybe".  Though, as my friend pointed out, swing dancers have a hard time just dancing normally... we always want to at least have some kind of frame!

Anyway, I thought this would be a perfect time to break out my senior year prom dress for a few "before-and-after" shots.  Jordan and I went to prom together our senior year, nine and a half years ago.  Time for a little trip down memory lane...

Prom 2005:

We both had a little mishap with hair dye about a month before prom.  But hey, Jordan had hair to dye then!

Jordan's still looking like a stud... even more so now than when we went to prom!

I'm so glad I got another chance to wear this dress.  It's my swirly-twirly, winter fairy, gumdrop dress!

Did you go to prom?  If so, did you like the dress you wore?

  1. You look great! That dress is so fun and flirty. :) My favorite part? Your shoes! Ha, that's so awesome!

I loved my prom dress, but even if I still had it, I'd never fit into it (it was a 00), and is not my style at all anymore.

    1. haha, yeah, my shoes! I didn't think to make a comment about them since I wear them so often. But I got a bad sprain dancing in heels seven or so years ago, and I swore I'd never do it again. In swing dance, lots of girls wear Keds with dresses, so it wasn't -too- weird!

I'd love to see pictures of your prom dress. Now I'm interested.

    2. I have no idea where my prom pictures are, but I found a link to my dress:

  2. Those prom photos just made my day! You two are so cute. And I love the twirly pictures. The dress twirls perfectly and you look like you are having so much fun.

    1. I've loved the prom pictures you put up of you & Ian... glad I could return the favor!

  3. Aww! That's so cool that you got to wear your dress for this formal, too! And twirly dresses are by far the best for swing dancing in!

  4. I'm sorry, but I could only laugh at Jordan in the first pic! But I guess that's what sisters are for ;) He does look much better now.

  5. Oh man -- that hair!! =) You've got a bit of a curly-haired Betty Page thing going on in the prom photos...and I forgot how orange Jordan's was! Amusingly, Matt's growing his hair out -- it's about where it was a decade ago (before I knew him), and maybe in a year it will be as long and beautiful as when we first met. =)

I am totally digging the beard & hipster glasses & vest on Jordan, and you + twirly dresses = amazing! (I think there's a picture from your wedding nearly identical to that last one somewhere...). I wish we had a fancy event to go to -- though, I'm embarrassed to admit that it has been a full year (!) since we've been out dancing. How did that happen?!? I miss dancing. =/

To answer your question -- I loved my prom dresses, they were perfect for me at that time. I'd pick something TOTALLY different today, but I have different taste and a different body (hello, DDDs!) and different dancing dress requirements. But I don't look back and regret the dresses. The boyfriend, maybe, but never the dress. =)
